Agami Education Foundation (AEF), a sister organization of Agami Inc., USA, has successfully completed its second session of “Teachers’ Training on Teaching Science by Hands-On Practice”. This five-day long training program spanning from May 4 to 8, 2017, was held at AEF office, Dhaka. In this training program, 12 teachers from six Agami supported schools received training on various aspects of class seven science curriculum. The training was conducted by three resource persons, where AEF executive committee members were present as observers and Mukhlesur Rahman, Senior Specialist of National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB), was present in one of the sessions.
The program inaugurated on May 4 with message from President of Agami Inc. and speeches of AEF Executive Committee members on the importance of Hands-On Practice of Science Experiments. AEF Executive Director, Nafisa Khanam, who is also one of the resource persons, presented different aspects of science teaching described in the NCTB 2012 curriculum and how to achieve the projected learning outcomes for science.
The first two days of the training were introductory sessions, where teachers were introduced with basic skills required for developing a scientific mindset among students. The next two days were simulation sessions consisting demonstrations and evaluations, and the final day was on presenting sample work plans.
The program concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants. In the closing ceremony, the teachers shared their experiences and expressed gratitude. This training is expected to be helpful in enhancing the teachers’ capabilities, increasing the students’ interests in science and augmenting the quality of education in Agami supported schools.
