Sabirul Islam, a British entrepreneur of Bangladeshi origin and renowned motivational speaker, spoke at “Motivational Workshop for Creating 2000+ Entrepreneurs” organised at Daffodil International University’s (DIU) auditorium on September 23. The event was organised with joint collaboration of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and Junior Chamber International (JCI).
At the age of 23, the young entrepreneur has spoken at more than 750 events worldwide and written several books about youth entrepreneurship. His bestselling book titled “The World at Your Feet” and innovative board game, aimed to educate kids on financial literacy, is now popular in many countries across the world. Sabirul is the founder of Inspire 1Million, a campaign through which he wants to inspire at least 1 million entrepreneurs worldwide, his visit to Bangladesh being part of the campaign.
Sabirul inspired the attendants at the event about entrepreneurship. He said: “Having connections with the right people in your network is the key to success. Self-value is also very important to become successful. It took three years for me to come to Bangladesh and I am glad that it took so long; otherwise I would not come across the wonderful people at JCI and DCCI.
“I plan to introduce my board game in the schools of Bangladesh, which are already used by more than 600 schools in the UK and other countries too. The game uses real life business examples to teach students about entrepreneurship.”
Being an entrepreneur at the age of 14, Sabirul had to overcome the obstacles of having no experience. He states: “Everything had to be done through trial and error but that’s the beauty of it. 14 was a great age to start.”
Also present at the event was Chairman of Daffodil Group and President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Md Sabur Khan, Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University Professor M Lutfar Rahman and National President of Junior Chamber International and Managing Director of Advanced ERP (BD) Ltd. Mostafizur Rahman Sohel.
At the event, Md Sabur Khan officially announced September 23-29 as the “Entrepreneurship Week” for Bangladesh.
