Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman has revealed that a toy gun is among the evidence collected from the hijacked Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.
The commissioner confirmed this by phone on Wednesday.
Previously, on Tuesday, the case—filed for the attempted hijacking of a Bangladesh Biman Airlines aircraft—was transferred to the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP).
CTTC Inspector Rajesh Barua was appointed the case's investigation officer (IO).
Soon after receiving the case, a CTTC team, led by Rajesh, went to Shah Amanat International Airport and visited the scene of the incident.
The investigators seized the plane as evidence and placed it in the custody of Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (CAAB).

According to case details, passengers and cabin crew members of Biman’s Flight BG-147 saw the suspect, Palash, carrying a firearm and a bomb-like material when he tried to hijack the aircraft. The suspect exploded two firecracker-like objects during the attempt.
On Sunday evening, Palash hijacked the Dubai-bound plane mid-air after it took off from Dhaka. After the plane landed at Chittagong airport, all 134 passengers and 14 crew members were safely evacuated from the aircraft.
Palash did not harm any passengers or crew members, but demanded to speak to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and his wife; who later turned out to be his ex-wife actor Samsun Nahar Shimla.
Later, Palash was killed in a confrontation with security forces when the latter conducted a raid to retrieve the aircraft and end the crisis.
On Monday morning, the Rapid Action Battalion confirmed that a fingerprint search of the suspected hijacker in their criminal database matched that of Palash, of Narayanganj’s Sonargaon area.
