A man was burnt to death and 12 shops gutted in a devastating fire in the district

At least two persons were burnt to death, three cows were burnt alive while 50 shops and houses were gutted in separate incidents in Kishoreganj, Chittagong, Gazipur and Munshiganj districts yesterday.

According to Kishoreganj correspondent, a man was burnt to death and 12 shops gutted in a devastating fire in the district.

The deceased was identified as Manjil Mia, 30, son of late Abdul Kadir of Pithua village in Karimganj upazila.

The fire originated from an electric short circuit at a workshop in Pithua Bazar area UNDER the upazila at 9 am and engulfed the adjacent areas soon, leaving one dead, 10 injured and 12 shops gutted.

On information, fire fighters went to the spot and doused the fire after two hours of hectic efforts.

The owners of the shops claimed that the loss caused by fire could go up to Tk one crore.

According to Chittagong correspondent, a man was burnt to death and nine houses were gutted in a fire at Firoz Shah Colony in the city. The deceased was identified as Rubel, 25.

Fire brigade sources said that the fire had originated from a thatched house at 2:55am and engulfed the adjacent area leaving Rubel dead on the spot and destroying the shops.

On information, fire fighters went to the spot and doused the fire.

However, the fire service official could not detect the reason behind the fire.

The owners of the shops claimed that the loss caused by fire could up to Tk seven lakh.

According to Gazipur correspondent, at least 29 houses were gutted in fire at a readymade garments factory in Horinhati area under Kaliakoir upazila of the district.

Apurbo Bol, station officer of Kaliakoir fire service station said; “The fire originated from an electric short circuit.”

He said, on information, two units of fire fighters went to the spot and doused the fire.

 According to Munshiganj correspondent, miscreants set fire to a dairy farm in Sirajdikhan upazila owned by local Awami League leader Mizanur Rahman leaving three cows dead.

Sources said the loss caused by the fire could up to Tk 10 lakh.
