Dhaka shops selling iftar delicacies

Iftar sellers said the prices items like suti kabab, leg fry and roasted chicken were 10%-20% more compared to last year due to high prices of meat

Ramadan started on Tuesday, so as the delicious iftar items started getting available in many places in the city.

The popular places to buy iftar items in Dhaka city are Bailey Road, Chawkbazar, Hatirpool, Kawran Bazar, Dhanmondi, Gulshan and many others. Among which, Chawkbazar is the most famous for traditional iftar items.

On the contrary, five star hotels are giving exciting offers where customers can avail buy one-get one offers in buffet items, including dinner for selective credit-debit cards holders.

Shopkeepers have huge variety of iftar items this year. Some of the items are jilapi, fried chicken, parathas, taler doi bora, roasted goat legs, pigeon, keema samosa, beef stick, chicken stick and chicken burger, chicken toast and faludas and many more.

In addition, there are seasonal fruits and variety of fruit juices available.

Abdur Rashid came to Chawakbazar from South Kafrul to buy iftar items. He said: “Though it is very difficult to travel to old Dhaka because of huge traffic. Still I came here to buy iftar, which is a tradition for us.”

Rashid said: “The prices of items are very high but there is no point in complaining about it.”

Another customer, Rakib Uddin said: “It is very difficult for a fixed income family to buy such costly iftar items during Ramadan.”

Taslima Begum, who sells iftar in Dhanmondi area said:   “We have drawn huge attention from customers for our iftar items including leg roast, special tehari, faluda, nababi borhani. Many people from different areas including Uttara, Dhanmondi, Mohammadpur, Shyamoli, Mirpur, have been at my shop here to buy iftar.”

The price of beef suti kabab per kg was selling at  Tk600-Tk650, mutton suti kabab per kg at Tk800-850, shami kabab at Tk40-50 per piece, tikka kabab at Tk30-40 per piece, chapali kabab per piece a Tk50-60, chicken roast Tk120-255 per piece, and a full chicken was selling around Tk350-400.

Besides, milk and nut juice was selling atTk200 per litre, labang Tk250-280, jilpi per kg Tk150-200 and per piece of beguni and   piaju was selling at Tk5-10, while per piece of  potato chap samosa was selling at Tk5-Tk10.

Chakbazar iftar seller Murshed Mullah said he has introduced a new item called whole chicken roast which is priced at Tk1,000-Tk1,200.”

Apart from this, another new Mughal item “Anam Khasi” a small size of Mutton roast is being sold at Tk5,000. Among other items, he sells koel roast at Tk120-Tk150 per piece and shrimps at Tk250-Tk300.  

Ramadan Offers in Five star hotel

Five star hotels including as Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Westin, Radisson Blu, InterContinental Dhaka etc are  offering buy 1-get 1 offer for cardholders of banks including Brac, SCB, Dhaka Bank, Prime Bank, UCB, Southeast Bank, NCCB, Midland Bank, Eastern Bank, Bank Asia, and non-bank LankaBangla Finance.

They are offering buy-one-get-one and iftar and dinner buffet is priced at Tk1900-Tk3,800.
