CMCCI organized a press conference at the trade body’s conference hall on Sunday.
Bangladesh International Trade and Export Fair (BITEF) is going to be inaugurated on December 1.
Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CMCCI) will organize the fair for the fourth time at the city’s Abahani playground in Halishahar area.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed will formally inaugurate the month-long fair at 11am on December 1.
CMCCI organized a press conference at the trade body’s conference hall to brief reporters about this year’s fair on Sunday.
At the press conference, Khalilur Rahman, president of CMCCI said that they had already completed all preparation to organise the fair.
“The objective of organizing the fair is to expand and promote the market of locally manufactured goods. Besides, the fair also plays an important role for the expansion and promotion of small and medium enterprises,” said the CMCCI president.
While reading out the written speech at the press conference, Aminuzzaman Bhuiyan, convener of the fair, said that a total of 200 stalls including 10 foreign ones would participate in the fair which will remain open for the visitors from 10am till 10pm.
“During the month long fair, ministers, government high officials, ambassadors and high commissioners from different countries are likely to visit the fair which will create an opportunity to expand the local market,” added Bhuiyan.
“We have also taken clock security measures to ensure law and order on the fair premises. Temporary police camps, CCTV have been installed. An information booth and a media centre have been installed on fair premises to obtain necessary information regarding the fair,” he said.
The entry fee for visiting the fair has been fixed at Tk10 for each person.
