The fastest growing smartphone brand, Huawei, has seen 232% year-on-year growth in sale between 2015 and 2016 in the country, according to the data released yesterday.
The growth is attributed to the successful launch of a number of flagship handsets including Huawei Mate 8 and the high-end device Huawei P9 in June last year.
Both the phone sets saw a great success in global market as well as local market.
In Bangladesh, Huawei is now the 3rd largest smartphone brand with a 14.5% market share in terms of its volume and 19.1% in terms of value, according to the Society for Consumer Research report released on November 2016.
About the tremendous growth of Huawei, Ingmar Wang, director of Device Business, Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited, said: “In line with our consistent growth in the global market, Huawei has maintained a steady growth in Bangladesh.”
This can be attributed to the consumer-centric approach to focus on creating meaningful innovation, as well as ongoing commitment to building a premium brand, reinforcing global channels and service capabilities, he added.
For 2016, Huawei Consumer Business Group predicted global sales revenue of US$27 billion, 42% up from a year ago, achieving steady growth for the fifth consecutive year.
Huawei smartphone shipments also reached 139 million units globally with 29% year-on-year growth.
The increasing rate of shipments was 0.6% in 2016.
