Quader can now walk slowly

He will be moved to a cabin from the Intensive Care Unit on Tuesday

Ailing Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, who is undergoing treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore, now “can walk slowly,” as his health condition has further improved.

Confirming the matter Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Director Dr Abu Naser Rizvi who is staying beside the ailing politician said: “He [Quader] now can walk slowly as his health condition has further improved,” on Monday.

A press release of the Road Transport and Bridges ministry quoted Dr Rizvi stating that the hospital authorities have decided to shift Quader from the Intensive Care Unit to the cabin on Tuesday.

He said the Awami League general secretary exchanged greetings with his family members, lawmaker Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, and party leaders who were beside him on Monday morning. 

Earlier, Dr Sivathasan Cumaraswamy, cardiothoracic surgeon at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital apprised Quader’s family members of his latest physical progress.

Quader’s wife Isratunnesa Quader, his younger brother and Basurhat Pourashava, Mayor Abdul Quader Mirza, nephew Lieutenant Colonel Fakhruddin Ahmad, Deputy Publicity Secretary of Awami League Aminul Isla, Mayor of Gazipur City Corporation Jahangir Alam, and leaders of the Singapore-based Bangladesh Community were present during the briefing.
