Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith hinted at retiring around December this year.
Responding to a comment made by former president Badruddoza Chowdhury, Muhith made the announcement at Agrani Bank’s annual business conference where he was present as the chief guest.
On Friday, Badruddoza Chowdhury proposed that Abul Maal Abdul Muhith and Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid should be transferred to ministries of “less significance.”
Referring to a report published in this regard, Muhith said: “I read the report. Yes I will leave in December this year. I still have 11 months left.”
He also suggested that Badruddoza Chowdhury retire from politics.
Agrani Bank Chairman Zaid Bakht presided the program. State Minister for Finance MA Mannan, Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir, Agrani Bank Senior Secretary of Bank and Financial Institution Division Yunusur Rahman, and other officials from the bank were also present.
