Tajul to parliament: 87% people getting safe water

The minister said this while replying  to a starred question, made by treasury bench lawmaker Md Anwarul Azim (Anar), in the Jatiya Sangsad

About 13.92 crore people, 87 percent of the country’s total population, are getting safe water now, said Local Government, Rural Development and Co- operatives (LGRD&C) Minister Md Tazul Islam. 

The minister said this while replying  to a starred question, made by treasury bench lawmaker Md Anwarul Azim (Anar), in the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) on Sunday, reports BSS.

He further informed the House that 99 percent of the total population has come under fundamental sanitation. Of them, 61 percent uses sanitary latrines, 28 percent uses joint latrines, and remaining 10 percent uses insanitary latrines.

According to the Joint Monitoring Program (JMP) Report-2015 of World Health Organization/UNICEF, the number of sanitary latrine beneficiaries are 9.76 crore in the country.
