7 killed in road accidents across Bangladesh

In Jhenaidah, a woman was killed and two others injured, when a  truck hit them on the Jhenaidah-Magura roa

At least seven people were killed in separate road crashes in seven districts across the country, on Tuesday. 

In Satkhira, a man was run over by a fuel-laden truck and died near New Market on the Satkhira-Kaliganj road in the afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Ansar Ali Sardar, 50, of Khoribila village in Satkhira Sadar upazila.

According to witnesses, the truck ran him over, leaving him dead on the spot.

Satkhira Sadar police station OC Mostafizur Rahman said the body was sent to the Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

In Jhenaidah, a woman was killed and two others injured, when a  truck hit them on the Jhenaidah-Magura road.

The deceased was Bulu Begum,45, from Borobari Bogura village of Shailakupa upazila in Jhenaidah.

Jhenaidah Sadar police station OC Moin Uddin confirmed the incident.

In Gaibandha, a man was killed when a motorcycle hit him near Dhaperhat road in Sadullapur upazila.

The deceased is identified as Khoka Sheikh, 60, from Bujruk Patanosa village in Sadullapur upazila.

Sadullapur police station OC Masud Rana said Khoka was hit by an unidentified motorcycle while crossing the road, and later died while being taken to the hospital.

In Shariatpur, three people were killed  and 20 others injured when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch in Khejurtala of Sadar upazila,  early in the day.

The deceased were identified as Kamruzzaman Mahmud Munshi, 45, Yakub Pike, 80, and Julhas Molla, 28.

According to locals, Kamruzzaman died on the spot and the critically injured Yakub died while he was being taken to Dhaka. 

ASP (Gosairhat Circle) Md Mohaiminul Islam said Kamruzzaman and Yakub died on the spot and Julhash died of cardiac arrest while trying to save the victims.

The injured have been admitted to Damudya Upazila Health Complex, added the ASP.

In Tangail, at least 35 people were injured when a bus plunged  into a ditch in Dhanbari upazila of the district.

Dhanbari police station OC Mojibor Rahman said the Dhaka bound bus plunged into a ditch losing control, in Samatkur of the upazila. 

Dhanbari Fire Service workers took the injured to the hospital for treatment, the OC added. 

In Rangpur, a female student was killed when a pickup van ran over her in Saidpur of Pirgacha upazila in the district, in the morning.

The deceased was identified as Khadija Begum, a student of class nine at Saidpur High School.

Pirgacha police station OC Rejaul Karim confirmed the incident.

In Bogra, a college student died crashing his motorcycle into a tree in Chokjora village of Ashekpur union in Shahjahanpur upazila.

The deceased was identified as Enamul Haq, 20, of Kuapara village in the upazila, and a former student of Bogra Government College.

Bogra Medical police station SI Abdul Aziz Mondol said Enamul lost control of his bike and got injured: both himself and his friend, Masud Rana, his passenger.

Both of them were taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College where Enamul died in the evening while undergoing treatment.
