A female garments worker in Sonargaon upazila of Naryanganj alleged that she was picked up by a man from road on her way to home on Monday night, and later gang raped.
The victim, the garment worker at a garment factory in Rupganj upazila, lodged a case with Sonargaon police station on Tuesday afternoon in this connection.
According to the case statement, the victim boarded a CNG-run auto rickshaw in front of her workplace to go to her home in Gauchia area. She and another passenger named Jahangir were on the vehicle.
After the auto-rickshaw reached Gauchia area, Jahangir barred the woman from getting down and scotched tape her mouth. He forced the driver to go Taltola area.
He took the girl to the house of one Halim Mia there. Later, he along with his six accomplices Abu Sayeed, Imran, Rony, Abul Hossain, Masud, and Arif gang raped the woman. At that time, Halim was not present in house.
Returning home around 3:00 pm, Halim Mia saw the incident and informed police.
The police went to the spot and detained five of the alleged rapists while Arif and Jahangir escaped the place.
The detainees were shown arrested in the case and produced before a court, said the police Station Officer-in-Charge Moniruzzaman.
