A six-year-old boy has been killed in a collision between a CNG-run autorickshaw and a train at Shaistaganj upazila of Habiganj district.

The accident took place when an autorickshaw, carrying school children, collided head-on with Surma Express around 9am on Sunday.

The deceased is Sohag Shah, 6, a second grader from Shaistaganj Islamia Academy.

Confirming the matter, Shaistaganj police station outpost Inspector Shafiqul Islam Khan said: "Four other students were injured in the accident. Two of them are in a critical condition.”

He said:"There was no gate at the railway crossing, which caused this accident."

The locals informed that Sylhet-bound Surma Express hit the CNG near Barachar area under Shaistaganj upazila.

"Sohag died on the spot while the other four students were taken to Sylhet Medical College for treatment," Inspector Shafiqul said.

After the incident, the locals tried to block Dhaka-Sylhet Highway, but police brought the situation under control, he added.
