Police have recovered the body of a teenage girl at Madhupur upazila in Tangail.
The body of Nargis Akter, 15, was recovered from a paddy field near her house at Nekibari village on Friday afternoon, two days after she went missing.
Madhupur police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Zobaidul Haq confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
He said: "The victim may have been strangled after rape.
"The body has been sent to Tangail General Hospital morgue for autopsy," the police official added.
Locals said Nargis, who got divorced seven to eight months ago, went missing around 10pm on September 11.
