Locals spotted the body in Mahisher Char in the morning and informed the police

Police recovered the bullet-riddled body of a man from the banks of the Arial Khan River in Sadar upazila of Madaripur on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Sagor Fakir, 28, alias Kala Sagor, son of Kalam Fakir of Dargakhola in the municipality.

Locals spotted the body in Mahisher Char in the morning and informed the police.

Sadar police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Saleha Begum, mother of the deceased, said: "Sagor used to work at a tile shop in Dhaka. He was recently released from Madaripur Jail. Since he went back to Dhaka, we lost contact with him. Now I don't understand how he has turned up dead."

Madaripur Additional Superintendent of Police, Badrul Alam Molla, said: "Sagor had 15 robbery, mugging, and drug possession related charges filed against him. He was wanted by the police for a while. We suspect he was killed in a dispute during the distribution of stolen loot. We are investigating the incident further."
