Two workers have died and five others sustained critical injuries while working at a ship-breaking yard in Chittagong.
The deceased were Aminul, 56, and Tushar Chakma, 27.
The accident took place at Ziri Subedar ship-breaking yard in Baro Awlia area of Sitakunda upazila around 5:15pm on Saturday.
Officer-in-Charge of Sitakunda police station Shamim Sheikh said:"The workers were injured when they fell from a great height.
“They were then rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH)."
Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Alauddin Talukdar of the CMCH police outpost said: “The duty doctor declared the duo dead, while the others are undergoing treatment at the hospital.”
On July 31, three workers died after inhaling toxic fumes from a gas leak while dismantling an oil tank in the same ship-breaking yard.
