Headless woman's body found in Gazipur

Her body was severed into pieces and hidden in a wardrobe in five polythene packets

Police have recovered a headless body of a woman in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur district on Monday night. 

The deceased was identified as Sumi Akter, 22.

The body was found four days after Sumi's disappearance. Her body was severed into pieces and hidden in a wardrobe in five polythene packets.

The deceased's sister Brishty Akter said: "Sumi was supposed to visit her father's place on Thursday. When she did not appear till Monday, I went to her place. I called the neighbours when I smelled something rotting.”

She also added that Mamun,Sumi’s husband, had been unreachable from Saturday and his phone had been switched off.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Rajib Kumar Saha of Sreepur police station told Dhaka Tribune: "We recovered the severed body parts and sent them for autopsy in Shaheed Taj Uddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital. However, her head was missing from the place."

Sumi's father filed a murder case  against Mamun and some unknown miscreants with Sreepur police station, SI Rajib concluded.
