Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Chittagong divisions to be effected
Due to active monsoon over Bangladesh, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at place over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Chittagong divisions during the next 24 hours.
Light to moderate rain with thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions as well as many places over Dhaka and Barisal divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi and Khulna divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over northern part of the country.
Due to very heavy rainfall landslide may occur at places over the hilly regions of Chittagong division, said a Met office bulletin.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Horiyana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub Himalayan West Bengal to Assam across northern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated trough extends up to the Northeast Bay. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay, it said.
Day temperature may rise by (1-2)°C and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
Maximum rainfall for last 24 hours (till 06pm yesterday) was recorded 195mm at Dimla of Rangpur while the minimum was recorded at 2mm in Faridpur, said the bulletin.
