The schoolboy was reportedly hacked to death by the suspects
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested four suspects in a case filed for the murder of a school student, Shuvo Ahmed, in Tongi.
The main accused, Mridul Hasan Pappu, who hailed from Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur, was arrested from the town’s Pagarh area Thursday evening.
Later, based on the information provided by Pappu, RAB raided different regions of the town and arrested the others.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Uttara RAB 1 acting company commander and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Salah Uddin said: “We have found a used knife and switchgear in their possession.”
The deceased’s father, Raju Ahmed, said he received the news that the accused were arrested through the media Friday morning.
Shuvo Ahmed was a ninth-grade student at Future Map School in Tongi’s BSCIC area. On Sunday, he left the house around 9pm to get a haircut, but never returned. Later, it was revealed that Pappu and his accomplices hacked him to death.
After an autopsy at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College on Monday, he was buried in their village at Gopalpur upazila of Tangail the next afternoon.
Tongi East police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamal Hossain said: “Shuvo’s father Raju filed a murder case with Tongi East police station accusing Pappu, and at least five other unnamed suspects.
The OC said Shuvo was hacked to death around 2am on Monday in BSCIC area and left there. When his mother called him on his mobile, the police answered and informed her about his death.
