The party will take only those who hold similar ideologies as the ruling party, he says
The Awami League will not shelter criminals, corrupt people, or members of anti-liberation forces, party General Secretary Obadiul Quader has said.
“I am urging all party leaders and activists not to give refuge to criminals and corrupt people in the party. The Awami League cannot be a party of evil people. No criminal, corrupt people, or anti-liberation forces will be allowed to participate in Awami League politics,” Quader said while addressing a meeting of Dhaka South city unit of the Awami League at its central office in Gulistan, Dhaka on Thursday.
He said: “It is very important to bring the party under discipline. No party can run without discipline. We have to be aware of discipline-related issues in the Awami League.”
Quader, who is also the road transport and bridges minister, said not every one could be made a member of the Awami League.
“During the election, many people joined our march, but we could only take in a few. We will take those whose ideologies match with that of Awami League.”
Quader also said the ruling party was facing significant challenges, as anti-government forces are trying to create problems across the country.
“Some people, who are jealous, are spreading propaganda against the Padma Bridge,” the minister added.
Quader alleged that BNP had been spreading propaganda against the Awami League after facing defeated in the 11th general elections and their movement.
"Spreading propaganda is BNP’s only weapon,"he commented.
