3 killed by lightning strikes in 3 districts

In Lalmonirhat, a man was killed and 13 others were injured by lightning strikes in several areas of Hatibandha and Patgram upazila

Three people were killed and 22 others were injured as lightning struck different areas of Lalmonirhat, Thakurgaon and Nilphamari on Tuesday.

In Lalmonirhat, a man was killed and 13 others were injured by lightning strikes in several areas of Hatibandha and Patgram upazila.

The lightning strikes hit the area with a heavy rain.

The deceased, Abdul Aziz, 50, was heading to his house from a relative's house when the thunderbolt struck him.

Patgram Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abdul Karim Sattar confirmed the incident.

The injured people are undergoing treatment in various hospitals of the district.

In Thakurgaon, a woman was killed and nine others injured by lightning strikes in Baliadangi Upazila and Thakurgaon sadar.

The deceased, Sadhina Rani, 44, was a resident of Guidegora village of Baliadanga.

The lightning struck the area with heavy rain and injured nine people who are taking treatment in local health complexes. Among the injured a 15-year-old girl named Nargis was critically injured and transferred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

Baliadanga police station OC Mosabberul Haque confirmed the incident.

In Nilphamari, an elderly woman was killed by lightning strike in Domar, on Tuesday evening.

The deceased, Aysha Begum, 55, was struck and injured by a thunderbolt beside her house. Locals took her to Upazila Health Complex but she died on the way to the hospital.
