1 killed, 32 injured in road accidents in 2 districts

The accidents occurred on Friday

One person has been killed—and 23 have been injured—in two road accidents in Gaibandha and Brahmanbaria.

The accidents occurred on Friday.

In Gaibandha, a man was killed in a road accident.

The deceased is bus helper Shofiqul Islam, 28.

A bus and a truck collided with each other on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in the district on Friday.

Two units of the fire service and highway police responded to the scene.

Nine  injured people were admitted to a local upazila health complex.

Gobindaganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Akhteruzzaman said the dead body has been sent to Gobindaganj highway police station. 

In Brahmanbaria, 23 people were injured in a bus accident; when their bus overturned into a ditch on the Comilla-Sylhet highway.

The injured have been admitted to Brahmanbaria District Sadar Hospital.

Police and witnesses said a Padma Express bus, carrying 65 passengers—trying to overtake a CNG—lost control and crashed into a ditch. 

The injured are construction workers: Nurul Islam (30), Masud (25), Mahmudul Haque (25), Mominul Islam (25), Saidul (26), Rasel (18), Saddam (25), Rofiqul (71), Joinal (36), Bilal (18), Abdul Aziz (44), Yusul (16), Sajidul (20), Al Mamun (17), Ariful (16), Riyad (15), Nayim (17), Imam Ali (18), Raj (20), Delowar (50), Samiul (21), Emon (32), and Rofiqul (55). 

Receiving the news, police responded to the scene and admitted the injured to Brahmanbaria District Sadar Hospital.

Brahmanbaria Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Investigation Atiqur Rahman confirmed that the incident occured.

Sub-Inspector of Khatihata Highway Police Md Moniruzzaman recovered the bus and sent it to the highway police station.
