Five killed, 40 injured in road crashes

In Dinajpur, a pedestrian named Kawsar, 38, was killed after a truck ran over him on the Dinajpur-Thakurgaon Highway in Bottoli on Saturday afternoon

At least five people were killed, and 40 injured in road accidents in Dinajpur, Gopalganj, Sirajganj, Gaibandha, and Habiganj on Saturday.

In Dinajpur, a pedestrian named Kawsar, 38, was killed after a truck ran over him on the Dinajpur-Thakurgaon Highway in Bottoli on Saturday afternoon. 

In Gopalganj, van driver Abdur Rouf Gazi, 45, was killed on the spot after a covered van rammed his vehicle on the Gopalganj-Tekerhat road in Ulpur. 

Police rescued the dead body of Gazi, and sent it to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.

In Habiganj, two men were killed in separate road accidents. The deceased are Rahmat Ali, 30 and Arjan Mia, 50.

Rahmat was killed when a Dhaka-bound bus of Unique Paribahan coming from Sylhet crashed into a bus of MR Paribahan in Shahpur of Madhabpur upazila. 

The other victim, Arjan, was killed after a human-hauler overturned on the way to Ajmiriganj upazila.

In Gaibandha, at least 40 passengers, including women and children, were injured when a bus fell into a roadside ditch near Gaibandha-Palashbari road.

The injured were taken to Gaibandha Sadar Modern Hospital.

In Sirajganj, a motorcyclist was killed on Saturday when a bus of Hanif Paribahan rammed his motorcycle on the Hatikumrul-Sirajganj Highway.

The deceased Ismael Hossain, was admitted to Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, reports BSS.
