The officer-in-charge (OC) of Banpara highway police has been withdrawn for destroying about 35,000 eggs belonging to a trader who refused to give him a bribe.
Jahangir Hossain, superintendent of Bagura zone highway police, confirmed the development on Tuesday, reports UNB.
Alim Hossain Shikdar, the Banpara highway police OC, has been attached to the office of the Bogura highway police superintendent.
On May 16, a pickup van carrying eggs fell on the highway in the Agran Sutirpar area of Baraigram upazila. The driver sought help from police, but they demanded bribes. When the trader refused, the policemen destroyed the eggs.
So far, six policemen have been withdrawn after an investigation into the incident.
