In Feni, police arrested a hawker named Md Bahar, 24, for raping a seven-year-old girl in Purbo Shilua village of Chhagalnaiya upazila Saturday morning.
With a surge of growing rape incidents, police has arrested six men in four districts, who were accused in rape cases.
In Feni, police arrested a hawker named Md Bahar, 24, for raping a seven-year-old girl in Purbo Shilua village of Chhagalnaiya upazila on Saturday morning.
Chhagalnaiya police station OC, Sudip Rai, said: "Bahar lured the girl with chocolate and took her to a newly-constructed shop, where he raped her.
"The court will declare the three-day remand dates on Monday and till then has ordered that Bahar be kept in jail."
The child has been sent to Feni Modern Sadar Hospital to undergo medical tests.
She will testify in court under article 22 of the Criminal Code of Procedure.
In Chandpur, police arrested a teenager on Saturday for allegedly raping a seven-year-old schoolgirl in Hajiganj upazila.
According to the girl's father, the accused, Md Rabbi, 17, abducted the girl to a deserted area and raped her on Thursday evening in west Rajargaon village of the upazila.
Hajiganj police station OC, Md Alamgir Hossain, said: "We have detained Rabbi and are in the process of filing a case."
In Sherpur, a 15-year-old boy was arrested for reportedly raping a five-year-old girl in Jhenaigati upazila.
The suspect was arrested Friday night in a case filed by the girl's mother, said Jhenaigati police station OC, Biplob Kumar Biswas, reports UNB.
According to the case statement, the accused went to the girl's house around 10am on Thursday when her mother was out. He lured the girl with promises of dates and raped her.
When her mother returned, the child told her what had happened. When word of the incident spread, the teenager fled his home.
Locals detained him on Friday night when he came home and handed him over to the police.
3 arrested for rape, murder of disabled woman in Bandarban
Police arrested three men for the rape and murder of a disabled woman in Alikadam upazila of Bandarban.
The arrested Trimothiyo Tripura, Joy Kumar Tangchanga, and John Tripura, have all confessed to their crimes.
The deceased, Lakaching Tangchanga, 32, was hung from a tree after being murdered on November 25 last year.
Police recovered her body and sent it to Bandarban Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
When the autopsy report came in, a murder case was filed by nephew of the deceased, Kanuman Tangchanga, at Alikadam police station.
Police were recently able to arrest the three.
Alikadam police station OC, Rafiqullah, said: “We were finally able to arrest them after six long months. All three confessed to their involvement in Lakaching Tangchanga’s murder.”
