Chhatra League leader held with drugs in Manikganj

Aminul Islam is the convener of the Dorgram Union Chhatra League unit

Police have arrested a leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student front of ruling Awami League, with contraband yaba pills in Manikganj. 

He was arrested from his house at Tebaria village in Dorgram union of Saturia upazila on Monday.

The arrestee, identified as Aminul Islam Selim, son of Abdur Rahman of Tebaria village, is the convener of the Dorgram Union Chhatra League unit.

Motiar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Saturia police station, said: "Acting on tip-off, police conducted a drive at Aminul's house and detained him with five yaba pills. Later a case was filed against him under Narcotics Control Act." 

The OC also said Aminul had been selling and taking drugs for long. A video of his activities spread on social media Facebook recently. Senior police officials noticed the matter and gave directives to take action accordingly, he added.

Saturia upazila Chhatra League General Secretary Golam Maula said necessary measures would be taken if any leader gets involved in the drug business.
