The hanging body of a domestic help has been recovered from the residence of a female member of Madaripur zilla parishad.

On Friday, locals recovered the body of  25-year-old  Rushi Akhter  around 4:30pm and took her to Madaripur Sadar Hospital where the duty doctor declared her dead.

Rushi, daughter of Shahjahan Molla of Kaijar, in Nagarkanda of Faridpur, hadlong  worked for zila parishad member Amena Khatun Baby in Shakuni area of the municipality.

Being informed, police went to the hospital and identified the body, said Sub-Inspector Rohmot Mia of Madaripur sadar police station.

The body bore deep black marks on the neck, he added.

“After an autopsy, it would be clear whether it’s a case of suicide or murder,” said the police official.

However, Amena Khatun said she had been taking care of Rushi since she was an eight-year-old. “I treated her like my own daughter,” she added.
