BGB arrests Indian citizen in Panchagarh

A case will be filed against the Indian citizen for illegal entry

Members of Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) have arrested an Indian citizen, Pankaj Kumar, in the Jotdarpara border area of Panchagarh Sadar upazila.

He was arrested for loitering around the frontier and was later handed over to Panchagarh Police Station, on Thursday.

The arrestee, son of Bappi Kumar, was from Guabari village of Shiliguri Chapramari area in Darjeeling.

Police said Pankaj was loitering at a pillar on the Jotdarpara border in Hafeziapara of Gorinabaroi union, when Sergeant Md Muslimuddin, of BGB 18—with his battalion—arrested Pankaj.  

When confronted in front of locals, Pankaj identified himself as an Indian citizen; and he was carrying two ten Indian rupee notes with him.

Confirming the matter, Officer in Charge (OC) of Panchagarh Police Station Abu Akkas Uddin said: “A case will be filed against Pankaj for illegally entering Bangladesh.”
