Equipped with advanced medical equipment, the 375-bed Imperial Hospital is all set to launch its operation from next month in Chittagong.

Renowned eye specialist and Chairman of Imperial Hospital Prof Rabiul Hossain made the announcement during a press briefing held at the hospital on Monday.

The 6,60,000-sq ft hospital is located at the city's Pahartali area.

"Many patients are compelled to go abroad due to the absence of quality healthcare in Chittagong. Due to this, Chittagong Eye Infirmary & Training Complex (CEITC) Trust took an initiative to set up an internationalized standard hospital," said Prof Rabiul.

"We are attaching top priority to three issues- infection control, security of the patients, and the hospital staff. 10% of the beds have been kept reserved for insolvent patients. We are going to begin our journey from the next month," added Prof Rabiul.

The hospital has been constructed over an area of seven acres of land. 14 modular operating theatres, 16 nurse stations, 62 consultant rooms with outpatient department facilities, 64 critical care beds, neonatal unit with 44 beds, and eight pediatric intensive care unit (ICU) are housed in five buildings of the hospital.
