He addresses concluding parade of newly appointed officers in the department
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said that the present government is working to increase the capability of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense on Tuesday.
He said this while addressing the concluding parade of newly appointed officers in the department as the chief guest at Purbachal.
In his words: “The Fire Service and Civil Defense is now engaged in multifarious services. So the government is working to increase its capacity further.”
The home minister said that fire service are not only dealing with regular accidents but also putting on enormous efforts in dealing with new façade of disaster and accidents with utmost sincerity with whatever available equipments to keep their reputation intact.
He expressed his hope that the newly appointed officers will play a significant role in enhancing the reputation and dignity of this department.
Congratulating all newly appointed officers for successfully completing their basic training, the minister said: “Fire Service and Civil Defense is a service oriented organization. From now on you have joined the work of this service to severe the people. It is important to remember your duty is to protect people’s lives and property.”
He further said: “Though you have completed basic training successfully, I think, your actual training will start from today. How to deal with accidents, how to apply fire extinguishers efficiently, how to rescue people trapped in a inferno building, how to manage a complex operation by providing efficient leadership, with ease and success; from now on you will have the opportunity to learn it in hand.”
Asaduzzaman Khan urged the newly trained firefighters to follow chain of command and obey their seniors with genuine interest to increase this organization name and fame.
Expressing satisfaction over the fire service activities, he said that the confidence and acceptance of the fire service has been increased in the country.
The home minister added that the two recently most talked fire accidents in Surhawardy Hospital and Chawkbazaar saw fire fighters tried their level best to diffuse the accidents with utmost sincerity.
Later, he conferred medals to three officers who finished the training with special points.
Khan also inaugurated a newly built multipurpose shade and visited the newly added car-pumps.
The minister concluded the function with a promise that new accessories and equipments will be added to this organization to make it more worthwhile during the extreme disasters.
Security service division secretary M Shahiduzzaman attended the function as the special guest, while Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defense Brigadier General Ali Ahmad Khan and other senior officers concerned were also present.
