A Jana Sanghati Samity (JSS) leader was shot and wounded at Manikchhari in Khagrachhari district on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Dhiman Chakma, JSS (Shantu Larma group) president of Lakkhichhara upazila unit.
According to local sources, three assailants riding on a motorcycle shot Dhiman in the knees, wounding him critically.
The attackers fled the scene after the shooting.
Manikchhari police station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Rashid said Dhiman was sent to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital in critical condition.
JSS Central Committee Staff Member Udayan Tripura blamed JSS (Larma group) for the attack.
