A case has been filed over Friday's attack that left two activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League injured at Daulatdiyar in the outskirts of Chuadanga city.

The injured Chhatra League activists are Miraj and Bashir.

Miraj’s mother Panna Begum filed the case (No 44) with Chuadanga Sadar police station Saturday morning.

A total of 14 Chhatra League leaders and activists including former joint secretary of Chuadanga municipal unit Chhatra League Mafijur Rahman and former office secretary Sheikh Sami Tapu have been accused in the case. Moreover, three to four unnamed individuals have also been accused.

In the case statements, plaintiff Panna Begum alleged that the accused men attacked her son Miraj- along with his friend Bashir - with sharp weapons in an attempt to kill them over previous enmity. Both of them were hacked severely by the assailants.

Confirming the case filing, Chuadanga Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Khalek said: “The case was recorded Saturday morning with the plaintiff’s written complaint. Since the attack took place following Chhatra League’s factional clash, action will be taken after careful investigation of the matter.”

Sub-Inspector (SI) Bhabatosh Ghosh of the same police station has been given the responsibility to investigate the case, the OC added.

Earlier on Friday evening, the two Chhatra League (BCL) activists were injured in a knife attack by rivals at Daulatdiyar of Chuadanga.

According to police sources, a group of their rival attacked and stabbed the two. Miraj was sent to Dhaka for better treatment, while Bashir has been undergoing treatment at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.
