Police will investigate if others were involved, and submit a report
Police have named three of the dead victims of the Gazipur garments factory boiler explosion in a case related to the incident.
The case was filed against 10 people at Joydebpur Police Station on Tuesday night by ASI Abdur Rashid of Chakrabarty Outpost.
The station’s Officer-in-Charge Aminul Islam said the case named three people: Abdus Salam, Mansurul Haque and Ershad Hossain, and accused seven unnamed others.
The case accused the suspects of negligence of duty, injury and murder.
Asked why the victims were named in the case, the investigating officer said the names had come up in the investigation.
Asked why the owners and managers of the factory were not named, he replied: “Investigation will tell.”
OC Aminul said on Wednesday morning that no one had been arrested in the case so far. Police will investigate the boiler’s condition and see if others were involved, and submit a report, he said.
A boiler housed in the four-storey apparel factory of Multifabs Ltd in Kashimpur’s Nayapara exploded early on Tuesday. Firefighters found 13 dead bodies in the rubble of the building in a daylong rescue operation and at least 50 others were taken to hospitals with injuries.
A district administration team that visited the factory on Tuesday afternoon found that the machine had expired on June 24.
