The clash took place when HWF members organised a protest rally in demand of a fair trail for Kalpana Chakma's murder and were obstructed by police and BGB
Three members of Hill Women’s Federation (HWF) were sent to jail by the Additional Judicial Magistrate in Khagrachhari on Thursday.
Sonabi Chakma, Pipi Chakma and Mikina Chakma were detained by Additional Judicial Magistrate of Khagrachhari Rokeya Begum.
On Wednesday, police detained eight people after a clash between HWF members and the police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members.
The clash took place when HWF members organised a protest rally in demand of a fair trail for Kalpana Chakma’s murder, and were obstructed by police and BGB.
While five of the other detainees were given bail, three of these women were sent to jail.
BGB also filed a case against 26 people named and 40 unidentified people, including the HWF’s Khagrachhari Chairperson Ditiya Chakma, in connection with the clash on Wednesday, where the accused have been charged for attacking the BGB and for obstructing their duties.
Pahari Chhatra Parishad, supported by The United People’s Democratic Front, has protested against the attack and arrest by declaring an immediate strike and has vandalised 20 vehicles in Khagrachhari’s Ramgarh, Manikchhari and Panchhari.
