The BNP spokesperson has called for uniting the people to insinuate a peoples' government led by party chief Khaleda Zia
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday claimed that the spirit of the 1971 Liberation War had been desecrated by the ruling Awami League.
“Although the Awami League is an old and vanguard party during the Liberation War, they have desecrated the spirit of the war… democracy has been spoiled… peoples’ rights have been squeezed,” he told a party programme at the Thakurgaon BNP office in the afternoon.
He also called for uniting the people to insinuate a peoples’ government led by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
But for that, a supportive government instead of a partisan one would be needed during the election, the BNP spokesperson said.
“Whenever a party assumes office, it wants to control the election process,” he said.
