Dinajpur boiler blast victims compensated

The government has distributed compensation money among the family members of the workers who died and got injured in the deadly boiler blast at Jamuna Auto Rice Mill in Dinajpur’s Raniganj area.State Minister for Labour and Employment Md Mujibul Haque disbursed Tk50,000 among each of the families of the 17 dead and four injured workers at the district deputy commissioner’s office Sunday. The deceased's families get another Tk175,000 within May 25. Bangladesh Sramik Kalyan Foundation funded the entire amount of the compensation. Labour and Employment Secretary Mikail Shipar and Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner Mir Khairul Alam were present during the programme. At least 28 people were injured after the boiler exploded on April 19. The latest death was reported on May 1 when one injured worker succumbed to injuries at Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Police, however, have failed to arrest anyone in connection with the case filed against three people including the mill owner.
