The ruling Awami League and the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost cooperation between the two parties.
The MoU was signed at Ganabhaban, the prime minister’s official residence, in the evening. Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Biplob Barua confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, also the prime minister, was present at the signing ceremony.
At the ceremony, Sheikh Hasina urged the CPC to play an active role in solving the plight of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
In response, CPC International Affairs Minister Song Tao assured Sheikh Hasina of China’s assistance on the Rohingya issue.
