The first-ever election to the Mymensingh City Corporation will be held on May 5.
Election Commission Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed announced the election schedule at a press briefing at the EC headquarters on Monday.
“EVMs will be used in all 130 polling centers in Mymensingh city,” he said.
He said that April 8 will be the last date for submission of nomination papers, and the papers will be scrutinized on April 10.
The last date for withdrawal of candidature will be April 17, and electoral symbols will be allocated to the candidates on April 18.
The government updated Mymensingh to Bangladesh’s 12th city corporation on October 15 last year.
Ekramul Haque, the mayor of the now defunct Mymensingh municipality, has been serving as the administrator of the newly formed city corporation since then.
