Ashraf said he will continue it unto death if the authorities concerned do not pay heed to his demand

A Dhaka University student continued his hunger strike till Monday morning demanding election of Dhaka University Central Student’s Union(Ducsu) within December 16.

Walid Ashraf, an evening master’s degree student of the Institute of Social Welfare and Research, went on then hunger strike at 5pm on Saturday on the premises of Memory Eternal in front of the Vice-Chancellor house.

Ashraf said he will continue it unto death if the authorities concerned do not pay heed to his demand.

“The vice-chancellor has to declare the Ducsu election within November 30 next, or else, I’ll start hunger strike unto death seeking his (vice-chancellor’s) resignation,” he added.

Contacted, university Proctor Prof Golam Rabbani said: “I have heard about it [strike], but it is not clear to me how he has taken this decision…”
