An eight month old infant baby girl has died after her mother accidentally dropped her while getting into a leguna (a kind of public transport) in the city’s Jatrabari area.
The infant Khadija was pronounced dead by the duty doctors after she was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 10:30am on Sunday.
Jatrabari police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Haridas Hajra confirmed the matter.
He said: “Parveen Sultana, mother of the deceased was on her way home to Demra’s Konapara area with her child.
“While getting into the leguna, she dropped her daughter, which caused severe head injury to the infant, and caused her demise.”
“As there was no complaint from the deceased’s family, the body was handed over to the family after the legal procedures, and without an autopsy,” the SI added.
Khadija’s father Rabiul Hasan is from Munshiganj’s Sirajdikhan upazila’s Fultala village.
