A 35-year-old man has been stabbed to death by unidentified assailants in Dhaka.

The deceased, Yunus Sarker, used to work at a grocery shop at Baitul Aman Jame Mosque in Dhaka’s Mirahajirbagh area. He hailed from Hossainpur village of Comilla district.

The incident occurred in Mirahajirbagh area around 2am on Wednesday.

Jatrabari police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Billal Hossain Jony told Dhaka Tribune: “Some unidentified assailants barged into Yunus’ shop and demanded money from him.”

He was declared dead when taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

“However, we are not yet sure  that the killing took place only because of a robbery. Our investigation is underway,” he added.

Yunus' nephew, Anisur Rahman, said: “My uncle used to live in Jatrabari's Moddho Mirhajirbagh area with his wife Sheila Saleha Begum and seven-year-old daughter Ishrat Jahan.”
