Former Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) vice-president Tofayel Ahmed on Monday instructed the newly elected Ducsu and hall union leaders to work together in the general students' favor.

He made the remark while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion program with the newly elected Ducsu leaders titled “enrich by hearing experience,” held at the university vice-chancellor’s residence with DU VC Prof Akhtaruzzaman in chair.

"Bangabandhu greeted me from the jail when I was elected Ducsu VP. He instructed me to play a vital role in meeting the peoples’ demands, as Ducsu was considered to be the second parliament of Bangladesh," the Awami League lawmaker said.

"Now, you are the elected leaders of each and every student, not of any particular group. Work for the sake of all general students," he added.

He further urged the student representatives to work towards solving current social problems.

Former Ducsu general secretary (GS) Mostak Ahmed also shared his experiences of working in the students’ union.

Mostak Ahmed said: "We belong to many organizations, but this should not stop us working together in Ducsu."

Noted educationist Dr Khandakar Bozlul was also in attendance at the discussion.
