'It will take more than a month to get the report'
The authorities on Tuesday sent blood and viscera samples from deceased Chhatra Dal leader Jakir Hossain Milon, who reportedly died after falling ill at Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj on Monday, for forensic tests.
Earlier in the day, Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s Forensics Department completed Jakir’s autopsy. Doctors did not find any bruising on the body of Jakir, who was the acting president of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal’s Tejgaon unit.
Dr Sohel Mahmud, who led the three-member board that conducted the autopsy at DMCH Morgue, informed journalists of the matter after completing the 30-mintue-long autopsy at 11:15am.

“We have sent Jakir’s blood and viscera for lab tests. It will take more than a month to get the report. After we get the report, we can confirm the reason behind his death.”
Jakir, who was being held at the Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj, was pronounced dead at DMCH after he had fallen sick on Monday morning, DMCH police outpost in-charge Sub Inspector Bachchu Mia said.
Jakir was also the vice-president of Chhatra Dal’s Dhaka Metropolitan North unit. He was arrested by Shahbagh police on March 6, when he was returning from a human chain organized by BNP in front of the National Press Club.
After the arrest, he was placed on three-day remand. A court sent him to prison after his remand ended on March 10.
