Workers at a brick kiln digging up clay came across the bomb on Wednesday night

An unexploded bomb dating perhaps back to World War II was found in Savar on Wednesday night. Workers at a brick kiln using an excavator to lift earth in Basudha, Aminbazar dug up the bomb. When the police were informed, a team of demolitions expert were dispatched from Savar Cantonment led by Lt Col Humayun Kabir.

The army experts examined the bomb and surmised it may have been dropped during World War II.

According to them, it is a general-purpose bomb weighing around 200kg. Although it did not explode, it does contain explosive material. After further examination, it will be sent to the army’s Central Ammunition Depot to be defused.

Currently the bomb is being kept at Aminbazar police outpost.
