The parliamentary standing committee on the Road Transport and Bridge Ministry is optimistic that the next span of the bridge will be installed by December this year
The Padma Multipurpose Bridge project is now more than halfway towards completion.
All of the approach road construction on both sides of the bridge has been completed, while river training is 34% finished.
The data was made available to the representatives of the parliamentary standing committee on the Road Transport and Bridges Ministry, during their inspection of the project site last Thursday.
“The realization of a dream held close to the hearts of millions of people in south-western Bangladesh, is now only a matter of time,” Committee Chairman Md Ekabbar Hossain said following the site visit.
“With the implementation of the Padma Bridge Project, the electoral pledges of the incumbent government are being fulfilled.”
Ekabbar is optimistic that the next span of the bridge will be installed by December.
Concluding its inspection, the committee advised everyone related to the long-awaited Padma Bridge project to remain committed, so that its construction could be finished within the scheduled time.
The committee also added that it is always ready to lend any assistance to the project authorities.
Committee members Rejwan Ahmed Toufiq, Nazmul Haque Prodhan, Md Monirul Islam and Nazim Uddin Ahammad were present during the visit to the project site.
Project Director Engineer Shafiqul Islam, and officials from the Road Transport and Bridges Ministry and the secretariat, were also present.
