A man has been arrested in Tangail for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl. Forman Ali, 55, is a quack by profession.
The incident occurred in the Madhupur upazila of Tangail district. Forman Ali was arrested from Chapri Bazar area on Friday night. He was sent to a court in Tangail on Saturday.
Locals said Forman Ali has sexually assaulted the girl before on multiple occasions.
After the rape, the child was taken to a local doctor for treatment. Shukumar Sarkar, the doctor who treated her, said she had injuries consistent with forced sexual intercourse.
The child’s mother filed a case at the Madhupur police station in this regard.
Kuralia union UP member Amjad Ali Sarkar said: “The girl’s parents came to me; I advised them to take legal action.”
Madhupur police station Officer-in-Charge Safiqul Islam said: “We arrested Forman Ali after the case was filed. He was sent to a court in Tangail on Saturday. The victim was sent to Tangail General Hospital for a thorough medical checkup.”
