High Court (HC) has stayed bail petitions of three accused and asked them to surrender before the lower court concerned in seven days in a case filed for forgery over the design of FR Tower in Dhaka’s Banani.

At least 25 people died and 73 others were injured in a devastating fire on March 28 at the building.

The accused are FR Tower land owner Syed Md Hossain Imam Faruque, Rajuk’s former inspector Md Aurangzeb Siddique Nannu and its former deputy director (estate) Md Sawkat Ali.

The bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam came up with the order on Tuesday after hearing three separate bail petitions.

A Dhaka court granted them bail in August and September in connection with the case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan stood for the ACC and Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik represented the state.

The ACC filed a case with Gulshan Police Station against the three accused on charge of irregularities over the design of FR Tower and violating building code in constructing the high-rise building.
