Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has filed two cases against Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) ward Councillor Tarequzzaman Razib with Bhatara police station.

RAB-2 Deputy Assistant Director Mizanur Rahman filed the cases under Narcotics Control Act and Arms Act on Sunday, RAB's (Legal and Media Wing) Senior Assistant Director Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan said.

Meanwhile, the elite force handed over Razib, also a Jubo League leader, to Bhatara police on Sunday evening.

Razib, councillor of ward 33, was detained by RAB from a house at Bashundhara Residential Area in Dhaka Saturday night on charge of extortion and land grabbing.

The battalion also recovered bullets, bottles of foreign liquor, and cash during the raid.

Hours after his detention, Razib was expelled from the post of Jubo League's Dhaka north unit joint general secretary for breaching discipline of the organization.
