The High Court has ordered the public administration ministry to submit its probe report over the death of Titas Ghosh, who died in an ambulance after a river ferry was put on hold due to a VIP movement.
The High Court bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader passed the order on Wednesday, after hearing a petition in this regard.
On July 31, the High Court formed a two-member committee comprising of a joint secretary and deputy secretary to conduct the probe into the incident.
The court also issued a rule asking why the compensation should not be awarded to the victim’s family.

On July 25, a ferry at the Kathalbari-Shimulia river route was delayed for three hours while waiting for the Abdus Sabur, a joint secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office working on the Access to Information (a2i) project.
Titas, an 11-year-old school student who was in an ambulance with severe injuries, lost a lot of blood. He later died on his way to the hospital.
A petition was filed with the High Court on July 30 seeking a directive to take legal action against the joint secretary and the ferry manager.
It also sought a compensation of Tk30 million to be paid to Titas' family, and a court order giving priority to ambulance movement at all ferry ports.
