Hearing of Banani double rape case adjourned till Jun 25

A victim filed the case on May 6, 2017, with Banani Police Station

A Dhaka court has adjourned till June 25 the hearing of a case lodged over the alleged rape of two private university students in Hotel The Raintree at Dhaka's Banani area in 2017. 

Dhaka 7th women and children repression prevention tribunal judge Khadem Ul Kayes adjourned the hearing after the defence finished quizzing her on Tuesday. 

Police brought prime accused Safat Ahmed and Naim Ashraf before the court from jail, while Safat’s friend Sadman Sakif, bodyguard Rahmat Ali, and driver Billal Hossain, who are out on bail, also appeared before the court for the hearing, reports BSS.

Safat, son of Apan Jewelers owner Dildar Ahmed, and his friends allegedly raped the two girls on March 28, 2017, after bringing them to the hotel for a birthday party. 

A victim filed the case on May 6, 2017, with Banani Police Station.

Police filed charge sheet on June 8, 2017, against five including Safat in the case, and a court on July 13, 2017, framed charges against the accused.
